Cardano Sets Five-Year High in Transactions as Governance Votes Surge

Cardano processed 1,780,896 transactions during the five-day Epoch 660 from October 6 to October 11, the highest level since November 2021. The increase was driven by on-chain governance participation, including votes on reducing minPoolCost, although the proposals did not reach quorum. The network ran without interruption, averaging 83.83 transactions per block and collecting 337,720 ADA in fees, or about 0.19 ADA per transaction.
During Epoch 660, spanning October 6–11, Cardano recorded 1,780,896 transactions, exceeding its prior November 2021 peak of 1.56 million. Much of this activity came from on-chain governance, as Delegated Representatives voted on whether to lower minPoolCost. Those votes did not meet quorum, but they generated heavy wallet interaction.
The chain stayed online throughout. Blocks averaged 83.83 transactions, total output reached 46.71 billion ADA, and fees totaled 337,720 ADA—about 0.19 ADA, or roughly $0.05, per transaction. In Epoch 661, capacity use was 38%.
Cardano’s governance surge may affect ADA holders, stake pool operators, and active voters by shaping how network parameters and fees are decided. If participation remains high, future votes could become more representative, though failed quorum attempts may leave current settings unchanged. The activity spike could also inform scalability planning and user confidence, while the price decline may temper investor expectations. Broader society may feel indirect effects only if such networks influence payment, staking, or digital governance practices.
