North Sky Capital Sees Clean Energy Opportunities After Active Q3

North Sky Capital reported an active third quarter, with its Clean Growth III-VI funds benefiting from liquidity events and positive portfolio developments. The firm activated Clean Growth VII and has closed two investments, with more expected in Q4. It continues to find attractive opportunities in U.S. battery energy storage, solar, and EV charging.
North Sky Capital’s third-quarter update said its Clean Growth III–VI vehicles gained from several liquidity events and favorable portfolio news. Clean Growth VII is now active, with two deals closed and additional closings anticipated in the fourth quarter. Its infrastructure team backed OBE Power to grow EV charging across the U.S. and Canada.
The commentary also framed clean energy demand around an AI and computing buildout. U.S. data-center capacity additions are projected at 21 GW in 2026, 39 GW in 2027, and 54 GW in 2028, with behind-the-meter power rising from 38% to 79%. Projections show solar, wind, and storage adding more than 50 GW annually from 2026 to 2030.
The firm’s activity could affect investors, clean-energy developers, utilities, and communities near new projects. More battery storage, solar, and EV charging may support grid reliability and shift emissions profiles, while data-center-driven power demand could increase local infrastructure needs and electricity costs. Workers and businesses in construction, manufacturing, and charging networks may find opportunities, though results depend on execution, permitting, and financing.
