Auger-Aliassime and Borg added to UTS Gothenburg lineup as No. 1 race heats up

UTS Gothenburg has added Felix Auger-Aliassime and Leo Borg to its player list. Auger-Aliassime and Brandon Nakashima, both stage winners this season, are in position to finish as the UTS year-end No. 1. The December 12-13 event at Scandinavium will offer $1 million and includes Holger Rune, Stefanos Tsitsipas, Alexander Bublik and Luciano Darderi, with one spot still open.
The Gothenburg Super Stage is scheduled for Dec. 12-13 at Scandinavium, with a $1 million prize pool and as much as $511,000 going to the champion. Seven of eight competitors are known; the final entrant will be named later. Auger-Aliassime and Nakashima, both stage winners this year, are best placed for the UTS year-end No. 1.
Auger-Aliassime took Nîmes in April, defeating Dimitrov, Rublev and Ruud, each in sudden death. Nakashima triumphed in Rio in July. Leo Borg, 23, will make his UTS debut in Sweden, where his two ATP match wins came, in Båstad in 2023 and Stockholm in 2025. His father, Björn Borg, plans to attend.
The event could give Swedish tennis a visible boost, drawing fans to Gothenburg and exposing younger audiences to a fast-paced format. Leo Borg’s home debut may add local interest, while his father’s presence could strengthen nostalgia around Sweden’s tennis heritage. For players, the year-end No. 1 race may raise profiles and sponsorship appeal. The wider impact may be mostly cultural and commercial, though a successful turnout could encourage more top-level tennis in the region.
