Morocco's Marrakech Marathon Returns for 37th Edition in January 2027

The 37th Marrakech International Marathon is scheduled for January 31, 2027, starting at 7:45 a.m. on Avenue de la Ménara. It includes a full marathon, a half marathon, and a new 5 km fun run on January 30. International entrants pay about €80 for the marathon and €60 for the half, with registration open online until January 24, 2027.
The race traces its origins to 1987 and is staged under royal patronage, with its date tied to January’s final Sunday. Organizers describe a largely flat route with mild inclines through palm groves, and runners must finish within five hours and thirty minutes.
The 2027 program adds a 5 km event on January 30 alongside the marathon and half marathon. Elite winners can earn US$15,000 by meeting 2:07 and 2:25 benchmarks, or US$12,000 otherwise. A partner agency anticipates over 15,000 participants and offers lodging, breakfast, transfers and bib packages near the start.
The event may bring economic activity to Marrakech’s hospitality and transport sectors, while residents near the route could experience temporary disruption and crowding. International entrants and their companions may support hotels, restaurants and local vendors around the start, runners’ village and finish. The new 5 km run could widen participation beyond serious athletes, possibly encouraging more local involvement in running and fitness.
