Marvel Zombies Specials Will Keep the MCU Multiverse Alive Beyond Secret Wars

Marvel Studios has signaled that the multiverse will remain part of the MCU after Avengers: Secret Wars concludes the Multiverse Saga. At New York Comic-Con, the studio announced three additional Marvel Zombies specials for Disney+ through 2029, along with a live-action Zodiac series planned for 2028. This indicates future MCU projects will keep exploring alternate realities.
Marvel's Multiverse Saga is expected to climax with Avengers: Secret Wars in 2027. At New York Comic-Con, Marvel Studios announced a live-action Zodiac spy thriller for 2028 and three more Marvel Zombies specials: The Winter Soldier near Halloween 2027, The Fist of Khonshu in October 2028, and The Last Guardian in 2029.
The Zombies franchise grew from a What If...? Season 1 episode and Robert Kirkman's comics. Its 2025 four-part animated series ended on a cliffhanger. The new subtitles hint at Bucky Barnes, a Blade variant with Moon Knight abilities, and an outbreak reaching space with one Guardian remaining.
For Disney+ subscribers and superhero fans, Marvel's continued multiverse plans could sustain long-term engagement and subscription interest, especially around Halloween releases. The Zombies specials may appeal to horror-comedy viewers and comics readers, while the Zodiac series could draw spy-thriller audiences. If these projects connect to Secret Wars, fans may feel rewarded for following interconnected storylines, though casual viewers could find the expanding slate harder to track.
