Square Card May Offer 3% Back in Bitcoin, Report Says
A report says Square Credit Card could let eligible users earn 3% back in Bitcoin on purchases, adding crypto payouts to its existing cash-back program. Parent company Block has not released full terms, including eligibility, payout timing, or delivery method. The possible feature fits Block’s broader push to add Bitcoin services across merchant and consumer payments.
The card, redesigned in August 2026, uses the American Express network. Today it gives unlimited 3% back on Square Bill Pay and 1.5% on other buys; rewards can be taken as deposits, account credits, or no-fee processing. The reported Bitcoin choice would be separate from those dollar rewards, yet Block has not shared eligibility, payout timing, or delivery details.
Block, co-founded by Jack Dorsey, has broadened Bitcoin offerings since late 2025. Merchant acceptance reached millions, with no-fee Bitcoin payments planned through 2026 and optional conversion of some proceeds from card sales. Separately, Cash App gives 5% in Bitcoin for purchases at Square merchants, capped at $30 monthly, through December 31, 2026.
If launched, the option could let eligible cardholders and small businesses accumulate Bitcoin through everyday spending, potentially widening crypto exposure beyond dedicated investors. Merchants may see more Bitcoin integrated into payment flows, while users could face price swings that complicate budgeting. Because terms remain undisclosed,
