Apple Home Collection brings pricey LG and Schneider smart-home gear

Apple introduced a Home Collection of smart-home accessories made mainly by LG, plus one thermostat from Schneider Electric. The devices are designed in collaboration with Apple and are expected to appear in Apple Stores starting in December, with some arriving in early 2027. They include cameras, a video doorbell, a smart lock, and thermostats, generally priced higher than comparable products from other brands.
Apple's new Home Collection includes six LG devices and one Schneider Electric thermostat. The lineup covers a video doorbell, floodlight camera, outdoor and indoor cameras, a deadbolt, and two thermostats. Most items are priced above similar smart-home products, and availability begins in December, with select models following in early 2027.
The LG cameras record in up to 2.5K and use HomeKit Secure Video, so no separate camera subscription is needed. However, how many cameras iCloud+ supports varies by storage tier, and Apple Intelligence camera descriptions require higher-priced plans.
This collection may appeal to Apple users seeking more HomeKit-compatible cameras and locks, though higher prices could limit adoption to wealthier households. The iCloud+ storage tiers may shape ongoing costs and privacy choices, as users decide how much footage and AI analysis they want. Competing brands could face pressure to match Apple integration, while consumers may gain more options but also more subscription complexity.
