DLSS 5 Comes to Hogwarts Legacy With a Faster Model, but Visual Gains Are Subtle

Nvidia plans to add DLSS 5 support to Hogwarts Legacy and Where Winds Meet in November using a faster model. The company says this version is twice as fast as the one that launched in NBA 2K27 and significantly quicker than earlier DLSS 5 builds. Some fans on social media found the Hogwarts Legacy visual differences minor, though others praised the subtler approach.
Nvidia says its latest DLSS 5 build doubles the speed of the version introduced with NBA 2K27 and is roughly ten times quicker than the technology's first public showing. The NBA 2K27 update will adopt this model, while Hogwarts Legacy and Where Winds Meet are scheduled to receive DLSS 5 in November.
Earlier, September testing on an RTX 5090 reportedly made 4K frame rates collapse, and the March GTC 2026 demo required two RTX 5090s for limited playable performance. In Hogwarts Legacy, shared comparisons emphasize lighting and subsurface scattering rather than dramatic character changes.
If DLSS 5 becomes faster and subtler, more PC players may leave it enabled, potentially shifting expectations around performance and image quality. Developers could face pressure to tune AI rendering carefully, while some users wary of AI-altered visuals may remain skeptical. The broader effect may be gradual: better accessibility to high-end effects on capable hardware, but also continued debate over how much AI should reshape games.
