Large blaze engulfs warehouse at Rostov Oblast machinery plant

A fire broke out at the Aksaykardandetal plant in Aksay, Rostov Oblast, on Oct. 13 and spread across 9,000 square meters, Russia's Emergency Situations Ministry said. The facility makes drive shafts and metal parts for agricultural and specialized machinery, with metalworking capacity that could also support military production. Nearly 100 emergency workers and 36 vehicles responded as strong winds and flammable materials hampered efforts; the cause is unknown.
The fire occurred on Oct. 13, 2026, at warehouses belonging to the Aksaykardandetal facility in Aksay, close to Rostov-on-Don. Authorities said flames covered 9,000 square meters, and a warehouse wall fell as the incident developed, according to Interfax.
The site produces drive shafts and metal parts for agricultural and specialized machinery, and its stamping and heat-treatment capacity could also be relevant to military-equipment components. Workers were evacuated. Crews responded after a 4:10 p.m. report about a warehouse holding plastic goods; 98 responders and 36 vehicles faced wind and combustible materials. The cause is not yet known.
The blaze could affect plant employees, emergency crews, and nearby residents in Aksay, who may face smoke exposure, work disruption, or traffic and fuel queues. Damage to the facility may interrupt output of parts for agricultural and specialized machinery, with possible knock-on effects for related industries. If military-linked production capacity is involved, the incident could draw additional scrutiny, though the cause remains unknown and no link has been established.
