Summer Walker Sues Love Renaissance Over Contract and Hidden Revenue

Summer Walker is pursuing fraud claims against Love Renaissance Records while trying to exit her Interscope deal. The lawsuit alleges the label mishandled budgets and kept her from revenue tied to Amazon and YouTube pages using her name. Her attorney says she no longer trusts the label and wants the contract voided.
The complaint, filed Aug. 28 and reported Tuesday, is a 10-page action against Love Renaissance. Walker signed with the label at 19; her 2017 agreement is the contract she now asks a court to nullify. She is also fighting to exit her Interscope recording deal. Her claims include fiduciary breaches, contract violations, and concealment fraud, with compensatory and punitive damages to be set by the court.
Her attorney, Keith Moten, says Walker has lost trust in the company and seeks to end the contract. The suit also claims merchandise using her name was sold on Amazon and elsewhere without payment, and a YouTube page in her name was run without her knowledge before being transferred.
This dispute could spotlight how young artists’ contracts and digital revenue are handled. If Walker prevails, other performers may feel more empowered to question label accounting or seek release from deals. Fans and emerging musicians could see ripple effects through changed negotiation practices, greater transparency expectations, and closer scrutiny of Amazon and YouTube income. It may also shape how courts view fiduciary duties in music contracts.
