Medical Properties Trust Earns Workplace and Environmental Recognition

Medical Properties Trust was named a Best Place to Work in healthcare by Modern Healthcare for the sixth year in a row. The company also received a second appearance on Newsweek's America's Greenest Companies list and a top 10 ranking among healthcare suppliers. MPT said the awards reflect its commitment to employees and environmental practices.
MPT, a Birmingham-based hospital real estate investment trust, has again appeared on two lists. Modern Healthcare recognized it among healthcare’s best employers for a sixth straight year, and it placed in that publication’s top ten healthcare suppliers. Newsweek and Plant-A Insights Group also included MPT on their greenest-company list for a second time.
The workplace honor follows an evaluation that includes employee feedback, while the environmental selection weighs factors such as emissions, water, waste, disclosures, and sustainability commitments. MPT owns or has interests in 373 hospital facilities with roughly 38,000 licensed beds across nine countries and three continents as of mid-2026.
Recognition may influence how healthcare workers and job seekers view MPT, potentially supporting recruitment and retention in a sector facing staffing pressures. It could also encourage hospital landlords and suppliers to emphasize environmental metrics, which may affect communities near facilities through resource use and emissions. However, awards reflect selected criteria and may not capture broader labor or environmental outcomes.
