Dobropolye Encirclement Tightens as Russian Units Expand Assault

Russian troops have isolated the Ukrainian garrison in Dobropolye and are conducting a gradual assault while expanding the outer encirclement, according to the report. Advances are also reported near Orekhov in Zaporozhye, around the Volchansk pocket in Kharkiv, and in Sumy. NATO Military Committee chairman Adm. Giuseppe Cavo Dragone said the alliance cannot guarantee it will help Ukraine get through the coming winter.
Russian forces have severed the Ukrainian garrison in Dobropolye and are methodically clearing the town while widening the outer encirclement; Lidino is reported taken. South of Dobropolye, Sergeyevka is being enveloped from several sides, leaving only a riverside road for supply in fog, with drone deliveries intercepted.
Near Orekhov, paratroopers are clearing Novopavlovka and Novoandreyevka, though tree-line fortifications from Orekhov to Yurkovka remain. In Kharkiv, Russian units advanced near Novaya Kazachya, Varvarovka and Krugloye around the Volchansk pocket; in Sumy, the North grouping moved near Khoten, Korenok and Turya. NATO’s Adm. Giuseppe Cavo Dragone said the alliance cannot guarantee winter support for Ukraine.
The tightening around Dobropolye and pressure near Orekhov, Volchansk and Sumy may deepen uncertainty for civilians in those areas, especially if evacuation, heating and supply routes become harder before winter. Families of soldiers and residents could face further displacement or separation. NATO’s stated inability to guarantee winter assistance may also affect public confidence in external support, though actual social effects will depend on battlefield developments and aid deliveries.
