Moscow Hits Ukrainian Rail and Drone Sites as Kyiv Launches Mass UAV Attack

Russian forces struck military-industrial, transport, logistics, and railway targets in Kyiv and surrounding areas, Kharkiv, Dnipro, and the Mykolaiv, Rivne, and Vinnytsia regions. The reported targets included the Darnytsia locomotive depot, a Kyiv production site linked to long-range missiles and UAVs, and a warehouse storing attack drones. Russia’s Defense Ministry said 604 Ukrainian drones were destroyed over Russian territory during one of Ukraine’s largest drone attacks of the year.
Russian attacks reportedly focused on rail repair yards, logistics warehouses, and industrial sites. In Kyiv, fires broke out at a locomotive depot and a production facility; the latter blaze spread across about 8,000 square meters. A warehouse in Buchansky District was hit by a jet-powered Geran-5 drone. A Kyiv business complex was struck again after an earlier attack on October 10.
In Kharkiv, three Banderol drones struck an electric locomotive depot, while a warehouse tied to the Kraken unit suffered ammunition detonations. Mykolaiv saw a cargo vessel struck twice.
The strikes could disrupt rail freight and logistics that support both military and civilian needs, potentially delaying supplies and travel. Residents near targeted depots, warehouses, and industrial sites may face fire, smoke, and secondary explosions. Repeated attacks on Kyiv business and IT offices could unsettle workers and affect services. The large drone exchange may heighten public anxiety and strain emergency responders. These effects remain uncertain and depend on damage assessments and local conditions.
