TRAI Drive Test in Thrissur: Jio Wins Download Speed, Airtel Leads Uploads and Voice Quality

In TRAI's July 2026 drive tests across Thrissur, Kerala, Reliance Jio recorded the fastest district download speed at 328.12 Mbps. Airtel had the top average upload speed at 27.96 Mbps and reported no dropped calls or call silence in district and highway tests. On the Kochi–Thrissur–Calicut highway route, Jio reached 346.73 Mbps for downloads while Airtel led uploads at 38.36 Mbps.
TRAI’s checks in Thrissur ran from 21 to 24 July 2026 through an appointed agency. The exercise combined 297.9 km of urban roads, 180.4 km of highway, ten hotspot sites, and 5.9 km of walking routes, totaling 478.3 km. Tested areas included Mannuthy, Punkunnam, Kunnamkulam, Chavakkad, Irinjalakuda, Mala, Chalakudy, Puthukkad, and Ollur.
Jio’s district download figure was 2.26 times Airtel’s, a gap of 182.69 Mbps. Vi averaged 44.52 Mbps and BSNL 7.92 Mbps. Airtel’s upload edge over Jio was 4.01 Mbps, about 16.7%. On the highway, Jio’s download lead over Airtel was roughly 2.09 times.
These results may affect Thrissur residents, commuters, and businesses by shaping expectations about mobile broadband and voice reliability. Faster downloads could support streaming, remote work, and digital services, while stronger uploads may aid content sharing and small enterprises. Cleaner call metrics could matter for households and emergency communication. Operators may face pressure to improve weak spots, though drive-test averages may not reflect every user’s daily experience.
