Orion Sets June 2027 Release for Kim Jee-woon's Thriller 'The Hole'

Orion Pictures will release Kim Jee-woon's thriller The Hole in theaters on June 25, 2027. The film stars Theo James, Hoyeon, Yeom Hye-ran, and Christian Slater, and adapts Hye-young Pyun's novel. It follows an American professor in South Korea whose mother-in-law uncovers secrets after his wife's death.

Orion Pictures, Amazon MGM Studios’ specialty label, has dated Kim Jee-woon’s The Hole for June 25, 2027. Christopher Chen wrote the adaptation of Hye-young Pyun’s 2016 Korean-language bestseller. The cast includes Theo James, Hoyeon, Yeom Hye-ran, and Christian Slater. The story follows Owen, an American professor in South Korea, after his wife’s fatal car crash; his Korean mother-in-law then discovers hidden truths about his marriage and history. Scenes are set in Seoul and Berkeley.

Anthology Studios, K. Period Media, and Esmail Corp produce, with Department M and Medan financing and executive producing. Kim’s earlier films include Cobweb, Illang: The Wolf Brigade, The Age of Shadows, and The Last Stand. The same June 25, 2027 date already belongs to Warner Bros.’ untitled Ocean’s Eleven prequel from Bradley Cooper, starring Margot Robbie, Wagner Moura, and Monica Barbaro.
