DSA weighs in on 26 ballot measures for 2026

The Democratic Socialists of America has taken positions on 26 ballot measures in 2026, including 22 that will appear on the Nov. 3 ballot. Nineteen are statewide measures and seven are local, with California accounting for nine of the total. The group backs 17 measures and opposes nine, often supporting housing, tax, and public-service proposals.
The DSA calls itself a member-driven mass organization of, by, and for working people. By October 2026, it reported more than 100,000 members and chapters in all 50 states. Its 2026 endorsements covered 26 measures: 22 scheduled for Nov. 3 and four for other dates; 19 were statewide and seven local.
California held nine of the 26, while Oklahoma, Virginia, and Washington each had three. DSA backed 17 measures and opposed nine. Supported proposals often involved housing, taxes, and public services. Among the opposed measures, five concerned taxes and two dealt with school rules and parental involvement.
These endorsements may influence voter information and volunteer activity where DSA chapters organize. Residents in California and other targeted states could encounter more outreach about housing, tax, education, health, and election-related measures. If adopted, such measures could alter public services, tax burdens, school policies, and voting rules, affecting tenants, taxpayers, students, patients, and voters. Measures DSA opposes may also draw organized countercampaigns.
