General election ballots mailed; drop box sites set
Ballot packets for the 2026 General Election were mailed on Oct. 13 and are expected to arrive soon. Only active voters will receive them, and voters who moved must update their registration before voting. Drop boxes will be available starting Oct. 14 at several Kaua'i locations, including Hanalei, Princeville, Kilauea, Kapa'a, Waipouli, and Koloa.
The county announced that ballot packets went out Tuesday, Oct. 13, 2026, and should reach recipients shortly. Only voters with active registration status will get one. Anyone who has relocated or changed mailing addresses must revise their voter registration before casting a ballot.
Ten drop boxes will be available starting Wednesday, Oct. 14, at sites across Kaua‘i, including Hanalei, Princeville, Kīlauea, Kapa‘a, Waipouli, Koloa, Kalaheo, Hanapepe, Waimea and the Elections Division. They will remain open around the clock until 7 p.m. on Nov. 3, 2026. Ballots need to arrive by that deadline, regardless of postmark. For help, call (808) 241-4800.
The mailing and drop-box rollout may shape turnout by making voting more convenient for residents near listed sites, while those who moved or whose registration is inactive could face extra steps. Communities farther from drop boxes may rely more on mail delivery
