Large Ethereum Holder Sells Entire 52,001 ETH Position for $24.5M Gain

A major Ethereum wallet sold its remaining 9,996 ETH and completed the liquidation of a 52,001 ETH position, according to Lookonchain. The holder bought the tokens at an average of $2,162 and sold at about $2,632, earning roughly $24.48 million. Most of the position had been sold on September 24, while other investors have recently moved from Bitcoin into Ethereum.
Blockchain tracker Lookonchain reported that wallet 0x8c58 finished exiting a 52,001 ETH holding. The last sale covered 9,996 ETH and brought in about $25 million. Across the whole disposal, the holder's average sale price was $2,632, versus an average acquisition cost of $2,162, producing roughly $24.48 million in gains.
The larger chunk—42,005 ETH, worth about $111.89 million—was sold on September 24. Meanwhile, Lookonchain noted another large investor sold 410.14 BTC for about $34.16 million and bought 14,341 ETH for about $36.14 million on decentralized exchanges, then sold 229 more BTC worth $19.1 million to acquire 7,469.8 ETH. Ethereum traded near $2,507.47, up 0.7% in 24 hours.
A whale's profitable exit may influence retail sentiment, possibly reinforcing caution about following large holders. It could also affect Ethereum's short-term liquidity and price volatility, touching traders, DeFi users, and investors with ETH exposure. Yet the simultaneous shift from Bitcoin to Ethereum suggests capital may rotate rather than leave crypto entirely, so broader societal effects—such as adoption or regulatory attention—remain indirect and uncertain.
