Dangote Refinery Extends IPO as It Reshapes Nigerian Fuel Market

The Dangote Refinery has extended its initial public offering to October 27, 2026, after strong popular demand. Middle East conflict and the closure of the Strait of Hormuz have raised crude prices and caused supply shortages, leading African and European countries to turn to the refinery. The plant aims to become a regional hub for refining and petrochemicals.
The refinery’s share sale will now close on 27 October 2026, after a fortnight-long extension, reflecting strong public interest. The offering had been set to finish sooner.
Escalating conflict in the Middle East and the shutdown of the Strait of Hormuz have driven crude costs higher and created supply gaps. Buyers across Africa and Europe have increasingly turned to the Dangote plant. The facility aims to become a regional center for fuel processing and petrochemical production.
