Apple's Get Ready tool lets shoppers prepare iPhone Duo preorders

Apple's iPhone Duo foldable will be released on October 23, with preorders opening October 16. The Get Ready tool on Apple's website and app lets customers select model, color, storage, carrier, trade-in, accessories, payment, and shipping details ahead of time. Completing those steps early may improve the chance of receiving the device on launch day amid expected limited supply.
Apple introduced the iPhone Duo last month, with retail availability set for Oct. 23 and preorders starting Oct. 16. The Get Ready tool opened Oct. 12, letting buyers preselect color, storage, carrier, trade-in, accessories, payment, and delivery details before the purchase window.
Pricing runs from $1,999 for 256GB to $3,199 for 2TB. Apple offers up to $885 trade-in credit; AT&T advertises up to $1,200 plus $200 per line for online orders, while Best Buy lists AT&T installment pricing from $55.96 monthly. Apple Upgrade is listed at $57.99 monthly.
The iPhone Duo's high price and limited launch supply may concentrate early access among buyers who can plan ahead or afford trade-ins and installment plans. Consumers who rely on older devices could face pressure to upgrade, while carriers and retailers may benefit from trade-in and subscription offers. The Get Ready process could reduce launch-day frustration for some, but may also widen gaps between prepared, higher-spending shoppers and those unable to act before preorders open.
