XRP's market value shrinks by about $117 billion as its crypto market share falls

XRP's share of the total crypto market cap dropped from roughly 5% in July 2025 to about 3.1% in October 2026. Its market capitalization fell by around $117 billion as the token's price declined from $3.42 to $1.37, even though circulating supply increased. The drop mainly reflects relative value loss versus other digital assets and does not necessarily mean XRP Ledger usage has fallen by the same amount.
XRP’s circulating tokens rose from roughly 59.2 billion to 63.1 billion between July 2025 and October 2026, a gain of about 3.9 billion. Some of that came from scheduled escrow releases; about 32.6 billion XRP remained locked as of June 30, 2026, and unused tokens can be returned to escrow.
The token traded near $3.42 in July 2025 and about $1.37 later, leaving it more than 62% below its $3.65 record set on July 17, 2025, and nearly 47% lower year over year. Its market capitalization moved from above $202 billion to around $86 billion.
XRP’s decline could affect retail holders, crypto funds, and traders exposed to its price, potentially reducing portfolio values and confidence. Because market share can fall even when ledger activity does not, businesses and developers using XRP Ledger may see less direct impact than token investors. A rebound, if ETF flows or altcoin interest return, could improve sentiment, though outcomes remain uncertain.
