Oncolytics Updates GOBLET Trial Timelines and PanCAN Grant Milestone

Oncolytics Biotech said it will receive the final payment from its Pancreatic Cancer Action Network grant this quarter after completing activities in GOBLET Cohort 5. Cohort 4, testing pelareorep with atezolizumab in squamous cell anal carcinoma, is expected to yield final results in the fourth quarter of 2026, while initial Cohort 5 results in metastatic pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma are expected in the first half of 2027. The company will use the data to guide its strategy for combining pelareorep with checkpoint inhibitors in gastrointestinal and other tumors.
The GOBLET trial is a Phase 1/2 study in advanced or metastatic gastrointestinal cancers, conducted at 17 German centers and managed by AIO-Studien-gGmbH. Its primary goals focus on tumor response or disease control and safety. Oncolytics says every cohort that reached its enrollment target also met predefined efficacy criteria. The company expects the final PanCAN grant payment this quarter after completing Cohort 5 activities.
Cohort 4 pairs pelareorep with atezolizumab in squamous cell anal carcinoma after prior treatment. Cohort 5 tests pelareorep-based therapy plus chemotherapy, with or without atezolizumab, in previously untreated metastatic pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma. Enrollment is complete; remaining patients continue treatment and follow-up while readouts are prepared.
If these timelines hold, people with anal or pancreatic cancers may get clearer evidence about whether pelareorep-based combinations deserve further study. Pancreatic cancer often has few effective options, so even modest survival or response signals could shape future trials and doctor-patient discussions. Continued philanthropic backing, such as the PanCAN grant, may help sustain early-stage research. Still, the data remain immature, and real-world benefit would depend on confirmation, regulatory decisions, and access.
