Ashby Florence to Make New York Stage Debut in A Kidman Carol

Ashby Florence will join the off-Broadway production A Kidman Carol this holiday season. The Kevin Zak-written, Skylar Fox-directed show is set for a six-week run at New World Stages, beginning November 16, opening November 30, and closing December 30. Florence will play Therese and other roles alongside Marla Mindelle as Nicole Kidman and Josh Sharp as Cate Blanchett.
Florence, a social-media personality, has built a following through a widely circulated Hamilton-related trend. Her broader résumé includes red-carpet hosting, appearances at industry events, and a role on Smosh. In A Kidman Carol, she takes on Therese plus additional parts, sharing the stage with Marla Mindelle and Josh Sharp.
The Kevin Zak-penned, Skylar Fox-directed production runs six weeks at New World Stages. Performances begin Nov. 16, opening night is Nov. 30, and the final performance is Dec. 30. Its story follows Cate Blanchett as a Scrooge-like Hollywood figure on Oscar’s Eve, guided by three Nicole Kidman spirits through past, present, and future.
Florence’s move from online fame to an off-Broadway stage could introduce her followers to live theater, potentially expanding the audience for a holiday limited run. Fans of Mindelle and Sharp may also take notice, while New York’s theater sector may see added buzz during a competitive season. The effect may be modest, but it could signal more crossovers between digital creators and stage productions, shaping who gets cast and who buys tickets.
