Penix Optimistic About Week 6 After Rib Injury in Falcons' Overtime Loss

Atlanta Falcons quarterback Michael Penix Jr. sustained a rib injury in the fourth quarter of Sunday's overtime loss to Baltimore after taking a hit in the pocket. He threw for 240 yards and a touchdown, but took a late hit from Tavius Robinson and lost the ball; the Falcons recovered. Baltimore opened overtime with a touchdown, and Penix stayed sidelined. Tua Tagovailoa replaced him and was intercepted on the second snap. He later voiced optimism for Week 6.
Penix has dealt with several injuries. He played only nine games last season before left ACL surgery, missed this season's first two contests, and had two college ACL tears plus shoulder problems.
