Kai Trump Has Wrist Surgery, May Miss Months of Miami Golf Season
Kai Trump, President Donald Trump's granddaughter, said she underwent wrist surgery and could miss several months of her freshman season with the Miami women's golf team. She was injured during her first college tournament in September and had previously had surgery on her left wrist in January. Trump has competed in two collegiate events this season.
Kai Trump, 19, is a Miami women’s golf freshman and President Donald Trump’s granddaughter. Her latest wrist surgery follows a January operation on her left wrist that addressed ECU tendon stabilizing tissue and triangular fibrocartilage complex damage. She had hoped to avoid another procedure.
She began college play at the 2026 Golfweek Fall Classic in Pawleys Island, South Carolina, tying for 102nd among 120. After hitting near a cart path, she felt a re-injury on the 10th hole. She later finished 13th of 14 at the Golfweek Put Me In Coach Invitational in Muncie, Indiana. She committed to Miami in August 2024, made her LPGA debut in 2025, and has a projected $1.2 million NIL valuation.
Kai Trump’s absence could affect Miami’s lineup depth and fan interest in its women’s golf events, while her recovery may draw attention to wrist injuries among young golfers. Because she has a notable public profile and NIL value, updates about her rehab could influence how brands, media, and college sports audiences follow her career. Her experience may also resonate with student-athletes balancing competition, injury, and long-term health.
