Marika Hackman announces 'False Dogs' album and shares '33'

Marika Hackman will release her fifth studio album, 'False Dogs', on February 19 through Chrysalis Records. The first single, '33', explores nostalgia, uncertainty about the future and the period between youth and the thirties, and features a children's choir. Hackman has also announced her biggest UK and European tour, beginning at London's Royal Festival Hall on February 26.
False Dogs, Hackman’s fifth LP, arrives February 19 through Chrysalis Records. Across its twelve tracks she performs nearly every instrument, including guitar, piano, drums, bass, mandolin and synth. The album grew from experiments in her East London space and was finished during a ten-day stay at Big Jelly Studios in Ramsgate, with Kent coastal textures subtly present.
Opening song “33” includes a children’s choir and a JOFI Films video, tracing time from seventeen into the thirties. Her largest UK/European run begins February 26 at London’s Royal Festival Hall, then visits Bristol, Glasgow, Manchester, Amsterdam, Brussels, Paris, Cologne, Hamburg, Berlin, Copenhagen and Stockholm. Presale starts October 22, general sale October 23.
The announcement may resonate with listeners navigating the passage from youth into their thirties, especially Hackman’s existing indie audience. A larger UK and European tour could bring extra footfall to venues and nearby businesses in the listed cities, while the album’s nostalgia and self-doubt themes may encourage wider conversations about adulthood and creative persistence. Its release through Chrysalis and prominent festival-hall launch could also raise her profile, though actual cultural impact will depend on reception, ticket demand and how the single connects beyond her fanbase.
