Xbox Survey Reportedly Gauges Interest in Making Its Games Console-Exclusive Again

A reported Xbox survey asked players how they would feel if all Xbox-developed franchises except Call of Duty became exclusive to Xbox and PC. One question proposed removing Minecraft from sale on PlayStation and Nintendo while letting existing owners keep it without future updates. The survey also explored whether players would switch hardware or skip games over exclusivity, though Xbox has not announced any policy change.
The survey, reportedly discovered by Windows Central, reportedly asked players to weigh scenarios involving Xbox franchises. One example named Fallout as a possible Xbox-and-PC exclusive. Another imagined every Xbox-developed series except Call of Duty becoming console-exclusive, with Minecraft pulled from PlayStation and Nintendo storefronts while current owners retained access but received no new updates; PC would remain unaffected.
The questionnaire also probed whether exclusivity would push players to buy different hardware or abandon certain games. No policy shift has been confirmed. Earlier this summer, Xbox said Gears of War: E-Day and Clockwork Revolution would stay Xbox-and-PC only, while Forza Horizon 6 and Fable remain planned for PS5.
If Xbox moved toward exclusivity, PlayStation and Nintendo players could lose access to future entries in major franchises, while Minecraft's broad community might face stalled updates on those consoles. Hardware choices and subscription decisions may shift as players weigh where their friends and libraries live. Developers and platform holders could face pressure to clarify long-term availability, though no change is confirmed, so any effects remain speculative.
