Slash Says Guns N’ Roses Will Pause Touring in 2027 to Focus on New Music

Slash said Guns N’ Roses plan to take 2027 off from the road and hope to organize material for a new album. He described recent touring as strong and explained that the band has a large amount of unreleased Axl Rose material to work through. He mentioned reworking songs such as “Hard Skool,” “Absurd,” “Nothin’,” and “Atlas.”
Speaking on SiriusXM’s “Trunk Nation with Eddie Trunk,” Slash described the band’s latest road stretches as increasingly strong, calling the most recent U.S. leg its best since that touring cycle began and praising the European run. After December shows in South Asia and Australia, he expects Guns N’ Roses to be off next year.
He also recalled how the group revisited Axl Rose’s unreleased post-Chinese Democracy recordings, as he and Duff McKagan replaced bass and guitar parts. “Hard Skool” and “Absurd” came first; “Nothin’” and “Atlas” were the final two completed. Chinese Democracy turns 18 this November. Slash will tour in 2027 with Myles Kennedy and the Conspirators behind Flying Blind, due Feb. 26.
For fans and the live-music ecosystem, a 2027 Guns N’ Roses pause could mean fewer tour stops, potentially affecting promoters, venues, crews, and local businesses tied to touring. At the same time, the prospect of new music may sustain anticipation and draw renewed attention to the band’s catalog. Slash’s concurrent tour with Myles Kennedy and the Conspirators could keep part of that audience engaged, while any eventual Guns N’ Roses release may influence how the group’s later-era material is received.
