Ron Perlman is ready to finish the Hellboy trilogy whenever Guillermo del Toro calls
Ron Perlman said he would still make a third Hellboy film with Guillermo del Toro even at 86. He wants to finish the original trilogy, which he says was left unresolved after Hellboy II. Del Toro's first two films starred Perlman, and later reboots did not lead to his return.
Perlman has long said the first two Hellboy films were built as a three-part story. Hellboy II ended with Liz Sherman pregnant with twins and an unresolved prophecy about Hellboy destroying the world. Guillermo del Toro directed the 2004 and 2008 movies, both starring Perlman. A sequel stalled, and del Toro ruled it out in 2017. Later reboots in 2019 and 2024, with David Harbour and Jack Kesy, made little box-office impact.
Perlman, 76, says he would still play the role at 86 if del Toro called. He wants only to finish that trilogy, not join another Hellboy version. He declined to say whether he and del Toro still talk about it.
