Apple’s HomeView smart display gets small early discount at Amazon

Apple’s first smart display, the HomeView, is already discounted by $10 at Amazon in gray and starlight ahead of its November 13 release. The device is priced at $289.99 and features a seven-inch square touchscreen that can recognize up to six household members. It also works as a smart home hub with Matter and Thread support and includes a 12-megapixel FaceTime camera.
Apple unveiled the HomeView on Tuesday, marking its entry into smart displays. The device launches November 13, yet Amazon already lists the gray and starlight versions at $289.99, a $10 reduction from the $299 standard price. Early discounts on newly announced Apple hardware are uncommon.
The seven-inch square screen can identify as many as six people in a home and tailor what it shows to each. It also serves as a smart home hub with Matter and Thread, supports HomeKit Secure Video feeds, and has a 12-megapixel FaceTime camera. Siri can use personal context from messages, calendars, and email.
A lower entry price and household recognition may make Apple’s smart-home ecosystem more accessible to families already using iPhones, while competing display makers could face pressure to match integration. Privacy-sensitive users may weigh convenience against always-available cameras and personal-context Siri. If the device succeeds, it could shift more daily routines—calls, recipes, schedules, smart-home control—toward shared screens, potentially reducing phone use in common areas but raising questions about data handling and household privacy.
