How To Toggle Custom Mode In Belmont's Curse

Castlevania: Belmont's Curse lacks standard difficulty settings but offers a Custom Mode. Players can enable it from the pause menu's Gameplay settings and adjust several balance options at any time. The mode does not disable trophies or achievements.
Belmont's Curse offers no conventional easy, normal, or hard selector. Instead, its Custom Mode is enabled through a checkbox labeled Enable Custom Mode in the pause menu's Gameplay settings, and it can be switched on or off whenever the player chooses. The game cautions that altering these values may hurt the intended experience, though it still permits changes.
The available adjustments cover combat, survival, and progression. Players can let Rose respawn outside boss doors, raise or lower dealt and received damage, expand her potion capacity to five, make her invincible, or boost experience gains up to threefold. Trophies and achievements remain unaffected.
Accessibility-minded players and those with limited time may benefit from adjustable balance, as Custom Mode could lower barriers to finishing a demanding action game. Trophy hunters may feel freer to use it because achievements remain enabled. Conversely, some purists could argue that optional modifiers dilute the intended challenge, though since it is opt-in and reversible, its broader social effect may be limited to how players discuss difficulty and accessibility in games.
