Dutch Fork's 42-0 win over River Bluff on Friday clinched the Region 4-5A crown and halted River Bluff's five-game run. Jaxon Knotts completed 19 of 27 throws for 393 yards and two scores. Michael Robinson ran for three touchdowns, while the defense held River Bluff to 61 rushing yards.
Maleek Miller, an Irmo transfer who sat out the prior Chapin game, hauled in 11 passes for 201 yards and a 43-yard score. Jalen Montgomery added three catches for 103 yards and a 53-yard touchdown. Since Tom Knotts took over in 2010, Dutch Fork has won 15 region titles in 17 seasons and extended its overall win streak to 17.
This result may strengthen Dutch Fork's standing among South Carolina high school football fans and could boost local pride among students, families, and alumni. A region title and long win streak might increase playoff expectations, media attention, and community turnout, while also giving players a visible model of sustained teamwork and preparation. River Bluff's setback could motivate its program, though the broader social effect may remain limited to school communities and the regional sports scene.
