Reedijk admits concern as Hibs sit bottom of Premiership

Hibernian manager Marink Reedijk said he had a sick feeling after his side lost 2-1 at home to Falkirk, leaving them bottom of the Scottish Premiership. Hibs have lost both matches since Reedijk took charge and have not won any of their last six league games. Reedijk said the team must reduce mistakes and take chances, though he felt they deserved more against Falkirk.
Marink Reedijk, 35, previously guided Beveren to Belgium’s top division after an unbeaten campaign. At Hibs, he has begun with two losses, and the club has taken just one point from its past six league fixtures. The team has also gone more than half a year without a home Premiership victory.
Against Falkirk, Hibs held 70% possession and recorded more shots, final-third entries, penalty-area touches and expected goals, yet Falkirk managed more attempts on target. Reedijk’s side next faces champions Celtic and rivals Hearts in a Hampden cup semi-final among three upcoming matches.
Hibs’ slide may weigh on supporters and the Leith community, whose matchday routines and local businesses could feel knock-on effects if attendances or spending dip. Players and staff could face added pressure, while rivals may sense opportunity. A prolonged relegation battle might also shape the club’s public mood and media coverage, though football’s impact is often emotional and local rather than broad.
