Red Hot Chili Peppers revive Hillel Slovak-era tracks at Silverlake benefit

Red Hot Chili Peppers performed at the Hollywood Palladium on October 17 for a charity event supporting the Silverlake Conservatory of Music. The set included Hillel Slovak-era songs Organic Anti-Beat Box Band and Blackeyed Blonde for the first time since 2000, plus Nevermind with John Frusciante for the first time since 1992. Dave Grohl and Vince Staples also appeared at the 25th-anniversary fundraiser.
The Palladium fundraiser celebrated 25 years of the Silverlake Conservatory of Music, co-founded by Flea and Keith “Tree” Barry. Marc Maron hosted; Dave Grohl and Vince Staples also performed.
RHCP’s 11-song set opened with an improv jam and “Can’t Stop,” then included “Organic Anti-Beat Box Band,” “Blackeyed Blonde,” and Frusciante’s rare Carole King cover. Grohl’s seven-song set featured Foo Fighters material, Violet Grohl, and covers of X and Mose Allison.
The event may strengthen Silverlake Conservatory's visibility and fundraising, potentially expanding music education access for young Angelenos. Fans of RHCP and older punk-funk may see renewed attention to Hillel Slovak's legacy, while Grohl's and Staples' appearances could draw broader audiences. The reunion of rare songs could influence setlist expectations and archival interest, though its wider cultural effect is likely modest and mainly within music communities.
