Sleaford Mods release expanded ‘The Demise Of Planet X’ with nine previously unheard tracks

Sleaford Mods have released an expanded version of their album ‘The Demise Of Planet X’ with nine previously unreleased songs. The new edition includes ‘Cato’, a collaboration with Life Without Buildings’ Sue Tompkins, who also appears in its music video. Other additions include an alternate ‘The Good Life’, ‘The Return Of The Bin White Dukes’ and ‘Give Em What They Want’.
The expanded edition follows Sleaford Mods’ 13th album, which charted at No. 6 in the UK and featured guests including Gwendoline Christie, Aldous Harding and Big Special. The nine added songs were written alongside the original record but stayed as demos until now.
Among them are “Cato,” a second Sue Tompkins collaboration after “No Touch,” with a video she directed. Other additions include a lyric-altered “The Good Life” predating Christie’s vocals, “The Return Of The Bin White Dukes,” described as a forerunner to “Don Draper,” and “Give Em What They Want.”
This expanded release could deepen engagement for existing Sleaford Mods fans by revealing the album’s working process, while the Sue Tompkins collaboration may introduce her to newer listeners. It may also extend the record’s commercial life and support tour interest, though its broader cultural impact is likely modest. Listeners who enjoy archival demos and alternate versions are most directly affected; casual audiences may simply encounter extra material rather than a new statement.
