SmartFinancial Q3 2026 Profit Tops Forecast as Revenue Picture Remains Mixed

SmartFinancial reported third-quarter 2026 net income of $18.6 million, or $1.10 per diluted share, beating the $0.979 consensus. Operating revenue reached a record $57.5 million, though reported revenue of $49.4 million missed the $50.46 million estimate. Net interest margin narrowed to 3.45% from 3.52% in the prior quarter, and the stock was flat after hours.
SmartFinancial’s latest quarter also showed year-over-year and sequential earnings improvement. Net income climbed from $13.7 million, or $0.81 per share, a year earlier and from $16.3 million, or $0.96, in the previous period. Operating earnings matched net income at $18.6 million, or $1.10 per share.
The bank recorded $8.1 million in noninterest income, helping lift total operating revenue to $57.5 million. Net interest income was $49.4 million, up from $48.1 million. Deposit costs rose, credit-loss provisions fell to $687,000, and noninterest expense increased to $36.4 million. Loans and leases grew organically by $174 million, while core deposits rose $163 million.
SmartFinancial’s results may matter most to local depositors, borrowers, employees and shareholders in its markets. A record operating revenue figure could support lending capacity and the new Columbus, Georgia, financial center, while narrower margins and higher funding costs may influence deposit rates and loan pricing. The mixed revenue signal could temper investor confidence, but the earnings beat may help sustain community banking services and local credit access.
