Solo Leveling Season 3 May Give Way to a Movie-Focused Future

A report suggests Solo Leveling season 3 may not be produced, with the franchise potentially shifting toward movie releases. The upcoming film Solo Leveling: Beyond the System is expected to be a major success and Crunchyroll has labeled it as the third season. Because the source story is relatively short, the series could adopt a movie-focused approach instead of continuing as a traditional TV anime.
The franchise originated in South Korea and has gained worldwide attention, helped by its 2024 anime adaptation from Aniplex and A-1 Pictures. Its second season aired from January to March 2025 across 13 episodes, and no further anime episodes have followed since.
At Anime Expo 2026, the next project was revealed as the theatrical film Solo Leveling: Beyond the System. Reports point to Demon Slayer’s movie strategy as a model, including a leaked 2025 A-1 Pictures committee document about pursuing theatrical profits. Rumors suggest a third TV season may not proceed, while Crunchyroll has described the film as the third season.
If the franchise shifts from seasonal TV to films, dedicated anime viewers and Crunchyroll subscribers may face different release rhythms and ticket costs, while theaters and studios could gain from event-style screenings. Casual fans might find it easier to follow a single theatrical release, though those without cinema access could be left out. The outcome may influence how other short-source anime properties are packaged, but only if the film performs strongly.
