SpaceX's AI segment powers quarterly revenue jump and first public operating profit

SpaceX reported third-quarter revenue of $14.6 billion, up 161% from a year earlier, and net income of $4.4 billion. Its AI segment generated $7.56 billion, nearly tripling and exceeding Starlink connectivity revenue, while Starlink added 1.6 million consumer subscribers. The company also posted operating income of $2.79 billion.
SpaceX’s quarter also showed sharp segment shifts: the renamed Super Intelligence unit brought in $7.56 billion, ahead of analyst estimates and up from $2.56 billion in the prior quarter, while Starlink-led connectivity revenue reached $5.25 billion. Starlink’s 1.6 million consumer additions trailed the 2.29 million analysts projected, and Space revenue rose to $1.77 billion.
Capital outlays were $19.6 billion for the quarter. Visible Alpha figures cited in the article project capital investment rising from roughly $70 billion this year to $197.4 billion by fiscal 2028, with debt potentially climbing from $50.7 billion in 2025 to $350 billion in 2029. SpaceX also agreed to acquire 800-megahertz licenses from Grain Management for Starlink Mobile, pending FCC review.
The results may reinforce how AI infrastructure and satellite broadband are becoming intertwined with everyday digital access. Investors could reassess growth and debt risks as capital spending rises; Starlink customers may see service expansion, including indoor mobile plans if the spectrum deal clears regulators. Workers and suppliers tied to data centers and launch operations could benefit from higher activity, though rapid buildout may also raise questions about energy use and local infrastructure.
