SpaceX Posts Strong Q3 as AI Unit Surpasses Starlink
In its first complete quarter after going public, SpaceX reported about $14.6B in revenue and $4.4B in net income, beating analyst estimates. Its AI division, now called SpaceXSI, generated $7.6B and accounted for more than half of revenue, while Starlink brought in $5.2B with $2.4B in operating income. Space revenue rose to $1.8B as more launches carried paying customers, and the company said it aims to attempt booster and ship recovery on Starship Flight 15 next month.
In SpaceX’s first complete quarter after listing, revenue was about $14.6B and net income $4.4B, topping the roughly $12.8B analyst forecast. Its AI arm, now SpaceXSI, brought in $7.6B—over half of company revenue—while Starlink posted $5.2B in revenue and $2.4B in operating profit.
Space operations earned $1.8B even though launch count fell to 35 from 38 in Q2, because 12 missions had commercial clients. Flight 14 carried 26 Starlink V3 satellites, and Flight 15 next month is slated to test recovering both booster and ship.
The results may deepen public-market exposure to AI infrastructure, tying more investors and cloud customers to SpaceX’s compute buildout. Starlink’s subscriber growth could affect rural and mobile connectivity users, while expanded launch cadence may influence satellite operators and launch competitors. Higher capex and large compute expansion could also draw scrutiny over resource use, though the article does not quantify those effects.
