Shrek 2 Remastered revives a much-maligned movie tie-in this November

Aspyr Media is bringing Shrek 2 Remastered to market in November, reviving the 2004 movie tie-in game. The release appears to be based on the PS2 version, which offered four playable characters, co-op, and eleven levels, while the original PC port was a separate and less well-received build.
The remaster is scheduled for November 10, placing it nine days ahead of GTA 6. It draws from the PS2 edition rather than the separate PC build, which reviewers at the time described as visually weaker, shallower, and very brief.
The 2004 tie-in appeared on PS2, Xbox, GameCube, and PC. Its console version let players swap among four characters, supported four-player co-op, and contained eleven levels. Aspyr Media, known for re-releases such as War in the North and Neverwinter Nights 2 Enhanced Edition, is handling this port.
The release may mainly affect nostalgic players, families, and remaster collectors, offering an accessible co-op experience tied to a familiar film property. Its timing near GTA 6 could limit attention, but the novelty of a revived, poorly received tie-in might generate online discussion and modest sales. For Aspyr, it could test appetite for overlooked licensed games, while younger audiences may encounter a piece of 2000s game culture through a modern platform.
