Disney+ and Hulu Greenlight New Glee Series

Disney+ and Hulu have ordered a new Glee series, though no premiere date or confirmed cast has been announced. Ryan Murphy has reportedly contacted roughly ten members of the original cast about returning. The original Fox musical comedy ran for six seasons from 2009 to 2015 and remains popular on streaming.
The revival has a two-platform order from Disney+ and Hulu, but viewers still lack a launch date and confirmed cast. The original Fox run lasted six seasons, from 2009 through 2015, centering on an Ohio high-school choir and its teacher, Will Schuester, with Jane Lynch’s Sue Sylvester as a recurring antagonist.
Later seasons brought in performers such as Melissa Benoist, Alex Newell, Becca Tobin and Josie Totah; Finneas O’Connell also appeared briefly in season six. Ryan Murphy has said he completed a script with Brad Falchuk and Ian Brennan and had spoken with about ten former cast members.
The revival could introduce the musical-comedy format to younger streaming viewers while giving longtime fans a nostalgia-driven event. Its reception may hinge on how it blends returning characters with new ones, and it could create work and music-release opportunities for performers. Because the original cast includes members who have died, the show may also prompt public reflection on grief and how legacy series honor absent stars.
