Sharon Osbourne reflects on Back To The Beginning as a tribute to metal’s outsiders

At the London premiere, Sharon Osbourne said the 2025 Villa Park concert was meant to honor metal artists who had long been treated as industry outsiders. The event featured Ozzy Osbourne’s final solo performance and Black Sabbath’s original lineup reunion, with appearances from many rock and metal acts. It raised about £11 million for charity, and a concert film opens in cinemas on October 28.
At the London premiere, Sharon Osbourne described the Villa Park concert as a tribute to metal performers long dismissed by the music business. The 2025 event combined Ozzy Osbourne’s last solo set with the first live reunion in over two decades of Black Sabbath’s original four members.
The bill included Metallica, Guns N’ Roses, Tool, Slayer, Pantera and others covering Ozzy songs, plus guest spots from Yungblud, Steven Tyler and Travis Barker. Organised by Sharon with Tom Morello as musical director, it raised roughly £11 million for charity; a cinema film follows on 28 October.
The film and charity total may extend the concert’s reach beyond attendees, giving metal fans a shared sense of recognition and offering charities a lasting funding boost. It could also introduce younger viewers to Black Sabbath’s legacy, while prompting venues and broadcasters to treat heavy music as a mainstream cultural draw rather than a niche curiosity.
