Needham Lifts Circle Price Target Despite a Rough Year for the Stock

Circle Internet Group shares have fallen 34% over the past year, ending at $85.87 on Oct. 20. Needham raised its price target to $134 and maintained a Buy rating, a level that would represent about 48% upside. The report says lower interest rates have weighed on the company's reserve returns, and the new target implies a rich forward earnings multiple.
Circle Internet Group ended Oct. 20 at $85.87, down 34% over a year. Needham kept a Buy rating and moved its target to $134 from $130; the piece frames that as about 48% upside.
In the second quarter, average USDC tokens in circulation climbed 25% from a year earlier, but reserve income gained only 5% to $668 million as reserve yield dropped 66 basis points to 3.5%. Period-end USDC was $73.3 billion versus a $76.5 billion average. Management raised 2026 other-revenue guidance to $310–$330 million from $150–$170 million, and Binance purchased $100 million of stock at $80.84 with a two-year lockup while extending a commercial deal for five years.
Needham’s call could shape investor sentiment around Circle and similar crypto-linked firms, potentially affecting shareholders, employees, and partners exposed to the stablecoin sector. Because Circle’s reserve income is sensitive to interest rates, shifts in that revenue may influence confidence among USDC users and businesses that rely on dollar-pegged tokens. A higher target may encourage risk-taking, while the stock’s weak year could keep some retail and institutional investors cautious; the broader effect may be limited to those already engaged with crypto finance.
