Grayscale Opens Direct Crypto-to-Fund Share Exchange for Ten Tokens
Grayscale introduced a service that lets qualified investors swap certain digital tokens directly for shares in its products, avoiding a prior cash conversion. It covers ten products tied to Bitcoin, Ethereum, Solana, Avalanche, Chainlink, Dogecoin, Hyperliquid, Sui, XRP and Zcash. Access is limited to eligible investors, and Grayscale says the method may reduce self-custody burdens and transaction costs.
Grayscale's new route lets approved participants hand over select digital assets and receive shares in participating Grayscale products, skipping a cash sale first. The current lineup spans ten products tied to Bitcoin, Ethereum, Solana, Avalanche, Chainlink, Dogecoin, Hyperliquid, Sui, XRP, and Zcash. Wu Blockchain reported the launch.
Access is not open to every holder; eligibility rules apply. Grayscale frames the approach as easing self-custody duties and possibly trimming transaction steps, though it supplied no savings figures, price information, or further access rules. The announcement does not extend coverage past those ten products.
The service may matter most to eligible crypto holders who want fund exposure without selling tokens first. By reducing custody and conversion steps, it could make crypto allocations feel more like conventional portfolio operations, potentially encouraging use of managed products. Yet because access is limited and details sparse, ordinary retail holders may see little direct change; the wider effect may depend on whether similar direct-exchange models spread and how regulators treat them.
