Saudi-Linked Bank Holds Steady on MicroStrategy Stake

Gulf International Bank UK reported holding 19,842 MicroStrategy shares worth about $3.04 million at the end of September. The bank kept its share count unchanged in the third quarter, preserving indirect exposure to Bitcoin. The position’s value has fluctuated over the past two years.
Gulf International Bank UK’s third-quarter 13F showed 19,842 MicroStrategy shares at September’s close, worth roughly $3.04 million. The London-based lender left that count unchanged, keeping indirect Bitcoin exposure through a company chaired by Michael Saylor, whose Bitcoin holdings stood at 848,517 BTC on October 19.
The stake has moved sharply over two years. A Q2 2024 position of 1,285 shares became 12,850 after August 2024’s 10-for-1 split. Holdings later reached 20,207 shares in Q1 2026 before a 365-share Q2 sale left 19,842; the June-end value was $1.72 million, and current estimates put it near $2.9 million.
The disclosure may shape how institutions and retail investors interpret indirect Bitcoin exposure through equities, potentially influencing demand for similar vehicles. It could also affect MicroStrategy shareholders and bank stakeholders by tying part of the bank’s reported portfolio value to crypto-linked volatility. Because the position is small relative to the bank, broader societal effects may be limited, though it may reinforce crypto’s visibility in conventional finance.
