Apple's iWork leak hints at a new AI assistant for documents

A briefly published App Store update for Pages, Numbers, and Keynote revealed an upcoming Apple feature called Intelligent Assistant. The tool is described as requiring iOS 27 and adding document-aware drafting, editing, research, and image or shape generation for Creator Studio subscribers. It appears designed to compete more directly with Google Workspace's Gemini integration.
A short-lived App Store changelog for Pages described an Intelligent Assistant tied to iOS 27 and Creator Studio. It promised help starting drafts, refining tone, organizing text, researching current information, and producing images or shapes through natural-language requests.
The notice was removed quickly, and the apps briefly disappeared from the U.S. App Store. A writer who installed Pages 15.4.1 before removal could not find the feature despite an active subscription. Later reports said the assistant had gone live across all three apps.
The feature could change how Apple users draft and research documents, potentially making writing and design tasks faster for subscribers. Students, office workers, and small creative teams may see productivity gains, while those without Creator Studio or newer iOS devices could be left out. Its arrival may also increase pressure on rival productivity suites to bundle more capable assistants, shaping expectations about AI in everyday work.
