Swedish designer Gustaf Westman’s Disney collaboration draws on Mickey & Friends, with the first reveal including a made-to-order black leather sofa, a ceramic cup and a chunky tumbler. The sofa carries Mickey’s rounded silhouette and costs €9,250, while the cup is €68 and the tumbler €110.
The tumbler uses Mickey’s red, yellow and black palette, with ears built into its lid; the cup’s circular base follows his face and ears. The full collection is scheduled to appear at pop-ups in Tokyo, New York and Paris on October 30 before reaching other cities.
The collaboration could broaden the audience for collectible design by pairing a niche designer’s rounded aesthetic with a globally recognized character. Disney fans and design-conscious shoppers may see homeware as playful self-expression, while higher price points could keep the sofa limited to affluent buyers. Pop-ups in major cities may drive foot traffic and social-media attention, potentially influencing how brands blend nostalgia with furniture and accessories.
