Space Force selects six companies for on-demand space tracking capacity
The Space Force's Commercial Space Office awarded the first contracts to six companies for a reserve intended to provide additional space domain awareness capacity during periods of need. The selected firms include InTrack Radar, Anduril, Slingshot Aerospace, LeoLabs, EOS Space Systems and NorthStar, chosen through the Golden Dome Marketplace.
The Commercial Space Office made its first awards under a new arrangement meant to let the Space Force call up extra commercial monitoring capacity when demand rises. The reserve is focused on tracking objects and activity in space.
Four selected providers are based in the United States: InTrack Radar, Anduril (which previously operated as ExoAnalytic), Slingshot Aerospace and LeoLabs. EOS Space Systems of Australia and Canada's NorthStar were also chosen. All six received their awards through the Golden Dome Marketplace.
The arrangement could affect satellite operators and other space users by making more tracking data available during busy or risky periods, potentially improving collision warnings and situational awareness. It may also deepen reliance on private firms for national security functions, shaping how commercial providers, allied companies, and government agencies interact. Broader society could see indirect effects through communications, navigation, and other services that depend on space systems, though the immediate impact is likely concentrated among defense and space-industry stakeholders.
