XRPL Validator Argues XRP Remains Central to Ledger Operations

A validator known as Vet disputed claims that XRPL expansion is disconnected from XRP. Vet said XRP supplies bridge liquidity, covers reserves and fees, and serves as the ledger’s native asset without counterparty exposure. He added that issued tokens can face freezing or administrative control, unlike XRP.
Vet, an XRPL validator, says the ledger has supported multiple assets since 2012. In his account, XRP provides bridge liquidity for decentralized exchange trades when direct pairs are unavailable, and it also underpins account reserves and transaction fees.
He separates XRP from issued tokens: as the sole native asset, it is not a claim on an issuer, so it is described as neutral and not freezable. Issued assets, by contrast, may carry administrative controls. Vet also says network growth and tokenization need not move XRP’s price immediately.
The debate may matter most to XRP holders and businesses weighing XRPL for tokenized assets, because it frames XRP as infrastructure rather than a speculative add-on. If adoption grows, users could see greater reliance on the ledger for payments and exchange liquidity, while issued-token controls may raise trust questions. Price effects may remain indirect and uneven, so retail traders could face disappointment if they expect immediate gains from network announcements.
