Polling Firm SoCal Strategies Goes Dark Amid Wedgewood Questions
SoCal Strategies disappeared from the internet after scrutiny emerged over possible ties to Wedgewood Polls. Wedgewood Polls had shut down earlier in the week. SoCal Strategies reportedly left no statement or warning explaining its disappearance.
The firm’s website, newsletter page, and social media account all went offline. It is the third polling operation to close this year, following Wedgewood Polls this week and Median Strategies in August. A FiftyPlusOne inquiry had been examining SoCal’s leadership and any connection to a polling outfit it described as fake.
Records cited in the report tied SoCal’s Florida registration to Jack Sims in March 2025, while an email reply said Sims had departed about a year earlier and that Wilson Rochford had served as lead pollster. Later tips linked Rochford to Wedgewood, and FiftyPlusOne withdrew two SoCal surveys over legitimacy concerns.
The disappearance could deepen public uncertainty about polling data used by journalists, campaigns, and voters to interpret races. If firms vanish before questions are resolved, affected groups may include newsrooms that relied on their surveys, advocacy groups citing poll numbers, and ordinary voters trying to assess candidate support. It may also encourage tighter vetting of small or opaque pollsters, though the immediate effect is likely limited to consumers of the specific surveys withdrawn or scrutinized.
